A Quality Evaluation Model is a structured framework for identifying and categorizing issues within evaluated content. It outlines the types of errors to be detected, their categorization, and the impact of errors on the final quality assessment. This model typically includes a list of error types, assigned weights for each type, severity penalty levels (such as minor, major, critical), and corresponding multipliers (e.g., ×1, ×5, ×25). Additionally, it establishes thresholds for error tolerance and passing scores, such as a 95/100 score requirement, which may allow for a certain number of minor errors or a limited occurrence of major errors per every 1000 words.
At Chillistore, we have hands-on experience working with all the quality metrics used in the localization industry, notably current standards like MQM or SAE J2450.
Since there is no one-size-fits-all solution, our team of Quality Managers will engage in conversations to define your quality expectations and business requirements before commencing the evaluation process. Collaboratively, we are leveraging industry standards to tailor a bespoke model that precisely aligns with your unique needs.
During the model creation process, we identify error types and subtypes that best align with your content type. We then define penalty points for specific severity levels (minor, major, critical) and assign weights to error types to ensure that issues of different natures are not equally penalized across different content types. For example, terminology errors may carry more weight in technical content, while style issues may be more significant in marketing texts.
